25 years ago: Mall vote to be held in 1987

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Dec. 17, 1986:

A public vote on the proposed downtown Lawrence mall would probably be held between August and October of the coming year, according to Joel Jacobs, chairman of the Urban Renewal Authority. City officials were considering a proposal from a Cleveland development firm to build a mall in the 600 block of downtown. No updated cost estimates for the project had yet been released.
