Wide window of opportunity and they knew where to look. Sounds like an inside job.

They probably won't get anywhere near $5000 when they take it down to 12th St. Recycling.

Thank you, Bozo. Now I don't have to post this. :)

Nothing like committing a felony and getting a few hundred dollars for your troubles. Pass the pipe please!

What are the laws on the scrap buyers end of this problem? If there are appropriate laws, what's needed to make them work? E.g., pictures of all purchases must be posted on-line, and a new photo and copy of ID card of sellers kept on file? Yards licensed and inspected?

Whoever stole this copper is a jerk. They stole from KU which means they stole from every Kansas citizen, and it is the taxpayers who will pay as KU is self insured. go after the secondary market...

This is not the first time they have done this. Someone seems to always know where the "good stuff" is kept. Hmmmm....

5k is a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the hundreds of thousands of dollars embezzled every year at KU. I bet if the copper thieves get caught they would get longer sentences then those from the ticket scandal.

Hey Pave - You know that failure to report a felony is a crime, don't you? Look up "misprision" on the interwebs. If you know about hundreds of thousands of dollars stolen every year, you'd best get over to the grand jury with your evidence ASAP. Unless you're just making stuff up, of course. Sorry to point out the BS (nothing personal), but you've cast yourself as either a criminal or a fabricator.
