Lawrence police officers are searching for a man alleged to have stolen a purse Thursday evening from The Buckle, a clothing store located at 805 Mass.

Police responded to a call at 6:25 p.m. Thursday that a white male had taken the purse from the store.

Sgt. Matt Sarna, a police spokesman, said Friday morning the man displayed a pocket knife but did not threaten anyone with it during the incident.

A police dispatcher said the suspect is in his 20s, wore a black coat and blue jeans, and drove off in an older model blue hatchback pickup truck.
