Snow predicted tonight; city crews begin preparing for winter weather

The National Weather Service is predicting a light snowfall this evening, and city crews began preparing for winter weather this morning. Snow is predicted to begin falling around rush hour, though Mark Thiel, assistant public works director, said it’s unlikely enough will accumulate to require plows.

Crews will be on the streets applying a new salt-water brine solution to some areas, and distributing sand and salt as needed.

The National Weather Service is predicting scattered flurries after midnight, and says there is a 30 percent chance of measurable accumulation.
