40 years ago: Kansas AG pursues lawbreakers to California

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Dec. 6, 1971:

Kansas Atty. Gen. Vern Miller announced today that he was seeking to return bond jumpers now living on the West coast back to this state to face charges. Miller and Sedgwick County Sheriff Johnny Darr had recently returned from a three-day trip to “several communities” in California, where they had put authorities on the trail of persons wanted in Kansas. “There is a group of people out there we want,” Miller said. “They are bond jumpers and forgers and are tied up in drugs. They take other names, and they are extremely difficult to ferret out.”
