One day after Kansas University football coach Turner Gill announced Deshaun Sands was removed from the team for violating team policies, Sands pleaded guilty and settled his pending Lawrence Municipal Court case.

The former KU running back was arrested Aug. 20 on an outstanding warrant for missing a June court date for a misdemeanor disturbing the peace citation related to an incident at his apartment last April. Sands, 20, was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning in the case, but court officials said Sands pleaded guilty on Aug. 24. His punishment was to pay $373.73 in fines and fees, according to the court.

On Aug. 23, Gill had announced the sophomore running back’s dismissal from the team. Sands was also arrested in October 2010 on a warrant for failing to appear in municipal traffic court.
