From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Aug. 26, 1971:
- Parking lots around Allen Fieldhouse were swarming with cars, circling for parking spaces in an already-filled lot, as Kansas University’s annual enrollment process got underway. Inside the fieldhouse, students stood in lines and walked from table to table in pursuit of the necessary paperwork.
- Workers were pictured putting up nets of new tennis courts installed at Lawrence High School during the summer. Courts had also been installed at West Junior High, Broken Arrow, and Central Junior High.
- A quick review of the week’s classified advertisements shows home prices ranging from $21,900 to $37,500 and houses for rent ranging from $150 to $300 a month.
