Heat advisory issued for Saturday afternoon

The National Weather Service has issued a brief heat advisory for areas of northeast Kansas. The advisory goes into effect Saturday at 11 a.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. Saturday.

Temperatures Saturday afternoon are expect to be in the middle to high 90s. The combination of heat and humidity will make it feel more like it is about 105 degrees outside.

The advisory includes Douglas, Jefferson, Franklin, Osage and Shawnee counties.

If you will be working outside this weekend, remember to take frequent rest breaks in the shade or in air-conditioning, and remember to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
