Rain delays work on Sixth Street; repaving planned for Thursday afternoon, early Friday

One phase of the major repaving project on Sixth Street is about to wrap up, and another is set to begin next week.

Thursday morning’s rain delayed work on the section of Sixth Street between Kentucky and Missouri streets that was slated to begin at 2 a.m. Thursday. So work was expected to get underway Thursday afternoon.

Crews also are expected to do a second round of paving beginning at 2 a.m. on Friday, weather permitting

Work then will move to stretch of Sixth Street between Missouri and Iowa streets. Crews will mill the surface, make base repairs and add new pavement. Work is expected to begin Aug. 8 and be finished by mid-September, according to the city.
