Woman accused of running over boyfriend’s foot with vehicle charged

Prosecutors on Friday filed four charges against a 19-year-old Olathe woman accused of running over her boyfriend’s foot with a vehicle Thursday.

Douglas County prosecutors charged Christina Rojas with reckless aggravated battery, aggravated assault, misdemeanor battery and reckless driving.

Lawrence police said the couple were involved in a verbal altercation at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in a parking lot in the 1900 block of Massachusetts Street. The woman got into her vehicle and almost ran over the man and then circled the parking lot as the two continued to argue.

Officers said the man was trying to get the woman to stay when she slapped him and ran over his foot. Police said his injuries were not believed to be serious.

Rojas was released from jail Friday afternoon after posting $2,000 bond. A judge ordered her to have no contact with her boyfriend and set her next court appearance for 2 p.m. Monday.
