Wichita ? Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputies found one horse dead and several other horses and different animals in “deplorable conditions” at a site south of Wichita.

The sheriff says in a news release that officers are investigating after 12 horses, two miniature horses, three donkeys and a llama were found Wednesday morning.

The office says the animals had no food or water and many were in need of immediate care.

All of the animals were placed into the care of Sedgwick County Animal Control. No arrests have been made.
