Final work on U.S. Highway 24-40 bridge over Mud Creek will mean lane closures

The final touches on the $1.5 million expansion of a bridge on U.S. 24-40 Highway in northern Douglas County will be completed Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, overlay work on the approaches to the bridge over Mud Creek will force alternating lane closures.

Flaggers will direct drivers across the bridge during daylight hours, and the bridge will be open to all traffic at night.

The bridge has been under construction for nearly a year.
