The Kansas City Royals selected the contract of right-hander Louis Coleman on Thursday and optioned right-hander Kanekoa Texeira to Triple-A Omaha.

Coleman, 25, was Kansas City’s fifth selection in the 2009 draft. He made six appearances in Omaha, allowing three earned runs in seven innings with two saves.
