22-year-old to be sworn in as Winfield mayor

? A 22-year-old Winfield man who first ran for public office as a high school senior is being sworn in as the city’s youngest-ever mayor.

Taggart Wall was unsuccessful in his first attempt to get elected to the city commission, but two years later he won a four-year term on that panel. WIBW reports that he is being sworn in as mayor on Monday.

The mayor position is rotated among the city’s three commission members. Wall says his appointment depended on the other two commissioners agreeing on it, which they did.

He says his biggest priority in the coming year will be the local economy. When asked if he has aspirations to be elected to state government, Wall says he’s not ruling anything out.
