McPherson College gets $1.2 million gift for entrepreneurship

? A liberal arts college in central Kansas is celebrating a $1.2 million anonymous gift to infuse entrepreneurship throughout its curriculum.

McPherson College announced the gift last week. McPherson president Michael Schneider says it supports the college’s effort to make entrepreneurship an essential part of every field of study.

In a news release, the college quoted the anonymous donor as saying the school’s initiative is taking liberal arts education to a new level. Among other things, the college has created a new program allowing students from all majors to minor in entrepreneurship.

McPherson’s existing programs in the field include its Horizon Fund, which provides up to $500 to students with entrepreneurial ideas; and its Global Enterprise Challenge, in which students develop sustainable ventures to help the nation of Haiti.
