National Weather Service issues warning about fire danger

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for Douglas and surrounding counties from noon until 8 p.m. today. The red flag warning “means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring…a combination of dry fuels, strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.”

The NWS warns that “dry windy conditions will make fire extremely difficult to control.”

There is also a 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., with a high of 82 today, according to the NWS.
