The last precinct is in and Bob Schumm has taken the top spot in the Lawrence City Commission race:

  2. Mike Dever 5,412 votes
  3. Hugh Carter 3,910 votes
  4. Mike Machell 3,362 votes
  5. Sven Alstrom 2,254 votes

Here are new numbers with all but two Lawrence precincts reporting — Langston Hughes in far west Lawrence and Immanuel Lutheran near 15th and Iowa streets:

  1. Bob Schumm: 5,199 votes
  2. Mike Dever: 5,097 votes
  3. Hugh Carter 3,675 votes
  4. Mike Machell: 3,187 votes
  5. Sven Alstrom: 2,196 votes

The race is tightening for 1 and 2. Langston Hughes in far west Lawrence likely will have the largest vote totals of the election.
