Just Food bank has bread, potatoes ready for taking

The Just Food bank has received two pallets of potatoes, four pallets of bread and pastries, and one pallet of green cabbage from Harvesters Community Food Network in Kansas City, Mo.

One pallet averages about 2,000 pounds of food.

Carolyn Ward, interim coordinator of the Douglas County food bank, encourages low-income residents to stop by and pick up some food. To qualify for food assistance, a household must fall at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guideline — or $29,140 for two people.

Pantry hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. It is located at 1200 E. 11th St.
