Lawrence school board to review goals for this year, establish timeline

Having already settled on goals for the academic year, members of the Lawrence school board are ready to identify who will get things done — and when.

Monday night, board members will consider approving their list of goals for the year — a list that includes which employees and others will be responsible for seeing that the goals are achieved, and sets timelines for when progress is to be made and, ultimately, work to be completed.

Among tasks on the list:

• Assess the purpose and effectiveness of current school boundaries, then make recommendations by February for board consideration.

• Create a “data warehouse” system designed to make effective use of information in educational decisionmaking.

• Implement and plan for changes to math curriculum, both for kindergarten through fifth grades and sixth through eighth grades.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the district’s main offices, 110 McDonald Drive.
