Power restored to Douglas County residents after storm-related outages

All power restored before 10 p.m.

All Westar Energy customers in Douglas County had their power restored just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

As many as 1,557 Westar Energy customers spent part of Thursday night without power after a line of storms moved through Lawrence.

As of 9:30 p.m., Westar energy reported just 218 customers in Douglas County were still without power. The original outage stretched from East 900 Road to Monterey and from I-70 to Inverness Drive.

Those south of Sixth Street along the South Lawrence Trafficway were the first to get power back.

A Westar Energy representative said just before 9:30 p.m. that all power was expected to be restored in the next few hours, barring more inclement weather.

The storms that moved through Lawrence brought strong winds and heavy rains, but no severe storms.
