Missed practices costs Sooners LB Lewis

? Linebacker Ronnell Lewis didn’t play a single snap on defense in Oklahoma’s game, and coach Bob Stoops says it has to do with time he missed in practice.

Stoops said Tuesday that Lewis was out for parts of spring practice, summer skill sessions and two-a-days for academic reasons and that has delayed his development.

Before training camp started, Stoops called Lewis “a guy you want to have on the field more.” But his playing time has been limited as the Sooners have primarily used a nickel defense instead of having Lewis on the field as a third linebacker.

Stoops says Lewis is working hard, has a great attitude and should eventually get on the field more at linebacker and defensive end.
