Insurance woes

To the editor:

Case study: 61-year-old woman; very active, walks and does yoga daily; had Lyme disease (main symptom: severe arthritis in all joints) in 2008; all arthritis gone since winter 2009. DENIED health insurance due to Lyme arthritis.

We have enough money to pay for health insurance, but I can’t get it.

I’d like to ask people who object to what is derisively called Obamacare, what is a person like me supposed to do for insurance? Is the Kansas high-risk pool my only alternative? What would you do?

My suspicion is that people who dislike the changes in our national health care are people who do not pay for their own insurance.
