B3 Blues, Brews & Barbecue volunteers can join in the festivities

Ballard Community Center is in need of volunteers for its upcoming fundraiser, B3 Blues, Brews & Barbecue, being held from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday at South Park. Several volunteers are needed to help set up the event, serve food and beer, help cooks and brewers as needed, and clean up after the event. Volunteers can work in shifts or for the entire evening. All volunteers will be able to enjoy the event including a plate of barbecue, samples from participating breweries, as well as a live performance from Josh Vowell & The Rumble! Immediate needs

• The sixth annual Kaw Valley Farm Tour is looking for volunteers to help with its event on Oct. 2-3. Volunteers are needed for parking, directions/information, ticket sales, possibly refreshments, and activities. Four-hour shifts are preferred, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on either day. • The Woodlawn School Outdoor Cleanup & Picnic is set for 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 2. Volunteers are needed to spruce up school grounds. Keys Landscape will provide materials and direction as volunteers pull weeds, do minor pruning, clean the small pond, and do general cleanup. End the morning with a PTO-provided picnic. • MOPS (Mothers Of Preschoolers) is in need of volunteers to assist in the children’s program MOPPETS. Volunteers will provide child care while mothers meet twice a month. Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 8:45 a.m. to 11am at Lawrence Free Methodist Church. Volunteers will help with free play, snacks, crafts, and a Bible-based lesson while watching the children. The first meeting is Tuesday. • Trinity In-Home Care is in need of volunteers for its new “Imagine … Drop-In Childcare” program, Lawrence’s first and only drop-in child care center.
