Lawrence man charged in Sonic robbery

A 23-year-old Lawrence man made his first appearance in Douglas County District Court on Thursday morning in connection with a January robbery at a Sonic restaurant.

Reco Clark was charged with one count of aggravated robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Three Sonic workers were initially listed as victims in the case, including Clark.

On Jan. 24, a man with a handgun entered the Sonic restaurant at 1003 N. Third St. He stole an undisclosed amount of cash as well as an iPhone from one of the employees.

In June, Lawrence police named Clark a suspect. The District Attorney’s office just recently issued a warrant for his arrest. He turned himself in at the Douglas County Jail on Wednesday afternoon.

According to court documents, on June 24, Antonio Douglas, 26, Lawrence, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. He was sentenced to more than two years in jail, three years of probation and ordered to pay restitution.

Clark is scheduled to be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 30.
