Piper 14, Tonganoxie 13

Kansas City, Kan. — It’s not often that a football team can hold its opponent scoreless for the night and still lose the game but that’s exactly what happened to Tonganoxie High Saturday.

The problem for the Chieftains in a 14-13 loss to Piper was the two touchdowns they allowed Friday night, before the game was suspended due to thunderstorms.

In the two-plus quarters played Saturday, THS outscored the Pirates 6-0 (the Chieftains trailed 14-7 when play resumed) as the defense forced two takeaways and three three-and-outs.

Jeremy Carlisle rushed for 96 yards in a losing effort for the Chieftains.
