Bennett, Veritas football cruise, 60-22

Nick Bennett didn’t throw much, but when he did — look out.

Bennett completed all five of his pass attempts for 162 yards, and all five went for touchdowns as Veritas Christian rolled to a 60-22 high school football victory over Flint Hills Christian on Friday at the Veritas field.

Four of the TD passes went to Nate Scott, who had 137 receiving yards.

Ethan Scott was Veritas’ leading rusher, with three carries for 67 yards and a touchdown, and he had a TD reception and returned the opening kickoff 70 yards for a score.

“It was a good opener,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “Flint Hills is a solid team, and I felt good with our performance. But we have things we need to work on.”

Defensively, Kelvin Rask led the Eagles with seven solo tackles and two assists, and Jerrid Cadue had six tackles, three assists and forced a fumble.

Veritas will travel Friday to Raytown, Mo., to face Kansas City East.
