Man arrested following road rage incident

A 31-year-old transient man was arrested early Friday morning following a brief road rage incident.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Bronson Star, officers were dispatched to the area near the intersection of Kasold Drive and Peterson Road about 12:40 a.m.

A victim at the scene reported driving in the area when a red vehicle drove past him at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle then abruptly turned around in the roadway and accelerated toward the victim’s vehicle. The victim was forced to swerve out of the way to avoid being struck.

The suspect vehicle turned around again and headed north in the southbound lane.

Star said the victim pulled over and called the police. As officers were responding to the incident, they saw the suspect vehicle driving recklessly in the area.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle and the suspect was taken into custody. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail just before 1 a.m. on charges of aggravated assault and reckless driving.
