More than 450 Westar Energy customers in Douglas County lost service for about three hours Wednesday morning.

According to the company, a tree fell on a power line at 11th and Ohio just before 4:30 a.m., knocking out power to areas on Ninth Street east of Iowa Street, near 23rd and Iowa streets and near 19th and Massachusetts streets.

Douglas County emergency dispatchers said the outage shut off the traffic lights at 11th and Tennessee streets, forcing stop signs to be put up until power was restored.

Service came back to nearly all Douglas County customers about 7:40 a.m.
