Thieves leave mark on Wichita Halloween attraction

What kind of monster makes off with props and property from a haunted Halloween attraction in a city park?

That’s what Wichita police and the operators of “Isle of Screams” want to know.

“Isles of Screams: Lair of the Wolf” opened this October for the first time in Wichita’s O.J. Watson Park. Patrons are guided on a 25-minute outdoor walk in the dark past mutants and maniacs, some with chain saws.

But sometime between Tuesday and Thursday this week, someone tore down fences and barricades, damaged props and broke lights. KAKE-TV reported the thieves made off with a $7,000 replica machine gun. Total damage was put at roughly $12,000.

The haunted island reopened Friday night. It will also be open tonight and Sunday night.
