Salina police: Man tried to take boy from playground

? Salina police say a man tried to abduct a young boy from a school playground, but the boy was able to escape.

Salina police Capt. Mike Sweeney says the boy told police he didn’t know the man who grabbed him Thursday afternoon at St. Mary’s Grade School.

The boy told police that the man grabbed him by the neck but the boy was able to break free. The student was not harmed.

The man was driving a small two-door pickup. He was described as a white male, about 6-feet-1, 40 to 50 years old, with a big belly and crew cut, dark brown hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a Bennington Bulldogs emblem on the front and a black jacket with yellow stripes on the sleeve.
