Overnight shooting at Topeka West High School leaves 1 dead

One person is dead after a shooting on the grounds of Topeka West High School.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that officers rushed to the school at 10:43 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report that shots had been fired.

Police said two people were shot and that one of the victims died. The condition of the other victim wasn’t immediately known.

Police did not say whether any arrests had been made in the shooting. Crime scene tape has been placed on the west side of the high school, around the ROTC mobile classrooms.
