Wichita ? Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson has endorsed fellow Democrat Raj Goyle in the state’s 4th Congressional District race.

Parkinson cited Goyle’s work in the Kansas House in announcing the endorsement at a news conference Friday night.

Goyle and Republican nominee Mike Pompeo are vying to succeed Todd Tiahrt in the district that covers the Wichita area. Tiahrt gave up a possible re-election bid this year as he ran unsuccessfully for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.

Parkinson highlighted Goyle’s work in the Legislature to restrict protests at military funerals. He also cited Goyle’s pledge as a state lawmaker not to accept any gifts from lobbyists.
