Veritas routs St. Mary’s

Nate Scott’s five touchdowns and 230 rushing yards enabled Veritas Christian to remain undefeated with a 70-36 football victory Thursday night against St. Mary’s Academy at the Eagle’s Nest.

Scott scored on touchdown runs of 64, 65 and 15 yards, returned a kickoff 76 yards for another score and was on the receiving end of a five-yard TD pass from Nick Bennett.

The Eagles (7-0) gained 399 rushing yards and took leads of 30-6 after the first quarter and 50-14 at the half against St. Mary’s (5-2).

Ethan Scott gained 82 yards on the ground and 79 yards in receptions and Bennett contributed 79 rushing yards. Preston Randall led the defense with six solo tackles and eight assists and Kelvin Rask contributed two solo tackles and seven assists.

Veritas Christian resumes its schedule Thursday at home against Wichita Sunrise, the only other team that has beaten St. Mary’s.
