25 years ago: Royals earn ticket to World Series with victory against Blue Jays

The Kansas City Royals were celebrating their 6-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in the seventh game of the American League Championship Series, giving them a come-from-behind ticket to the World Series. The first game in the all-Missouri series against the St. Louis Cardinals was to take place in Royals Stadium.

Work was underway downtown on the remodeling of the former Ed Marling store, 825 Massachusetts. The location would be the new home for Arensberg Shoes. Additionally, a local man was planning to open a Benetton clothing store at 928 Mass, the former home of Audiotronics, which had closed in 1984. Work was also scheduled to begin at 945 Mass, the former location of Thompson Furniture. A retail space was planned for the ground floor, with office space on the second floor.
