A 52-year-old Topeka man was killed while working on a conveyor system at Hamm Quarry, 16920 3rd St., sometime before 8:14 a.m. Saturday.

William Oaks was working on a conveyor system when it started up and Oaks was injured, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Jefferson County emergency crews and LifeStar responded to the accident, but Oaks died on scene.
