LHS newspaper up for Pacemaker

Stop the presses: The student newspaper at Lawrence High School is a finalist for a Pacemaker, a national award presented annually by the National Scholastic Press Association and Newspaper Association of America Foundation.

The Budget — led in 2010 by Jon Cohen, editor, and Heather Lawrenz, adviser — is one of six finalists among papers with eight or fewer pages. Pacemaker winners are selected based on coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership on the opinion page, evidence of in-depth reporting, design, photography, art and graphics.

Awards will be presented Nov. 13, during the Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
