Crimson wins KU swim meet

Senior Iuliia Kuzhil and freshman Morgan Sharp paced Team Crimson to a narrow 146-141 victory voer Team Blue in Kansas University’s annual intrasquad meet on Friday at Robinson Natatorium.

Kuzhil won the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events, and Sharp won the 100 and 200 freestyle and swam the first leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay.

For Blue, volunteer assistant coach Danielle Herrmann won three events — the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM.

“I felt we had some really good performances today,” Kansas coach Clark Campbell said. “It was good to see the freshmen step up; they were absolutely awesome.”

On the diving side, sophomore Christy Cash dominated the board, winning both the three-meter and one-meter dives.

Other winners included senior Brittany Potter in the 200-yard butterfly, senior Amanda Maez in the 50-yard freestyle and Monica Johannessen in the 100-yard butterfly.

KU will travel Friday to the Arizona Quad Duals.
