President of Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City to talk at KU

Thomas M. Hoenig, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, is scheduled to present the Kansas University School of Business’ 2010 Chandler Lecture.

His lecture, “The Economic Outlook and Challenges Facing Monetary Policymakers,” is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 25, at the Lied Center. The event is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required.

Hoenig has been president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City since 1991. He is the senior member of the Federal Reserve System’s Federal Open Market Committee, which oversees national monetary policy in the United States.

He joined the Federal Reserve Bank in 1973 as an economist and was a senior officer in banking supervision during the U.S. banking crisis of the 1980s.
