Texas Tech tops KU volleyball

— Karina Garlington led Kansas University with 17 kills in its 3-2 loss to Texas Tech on Saturday.

The Red Raiders defeated the Jayhawks, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22, 20-25 and 15-7.

KU fell to 11-6 overall, including 2-4 in the Big 12 Conference. Texas Tech improved to 3-12 and 1-5 in the conference.

Junior outside hitter Allison Mayfield contributed 13 kills in the effort, while sophomore middle blocker Tayler Tolefree finished with seven.

The Jayhawks will play host to Iowa State at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

So, the team with "0" wins in league play handed our hats to us by winning two sets in a row to close us out? KU Volleyball, KU Football, KU Baseball, KU Softball, KU Golf....sports writers covering these teams can share the same story sad.

And to think we may have a chancellor who's not really a fan of athletics and who doesn't fully understand that college athletics is the front door to a university to the public and alumns, in charge of hiring a new director of athletics.
