Cordley School won the third-place trophy in the K-6 division of the Christ the King Chess Tournament held Sept. 25 in Topeka. Individually, top Lawrence finishers were Sunflower School’s Kelsey Jian, second in K-6; and Central Junior High School’s Sam Beaulieu, third in K-12.

Other area medalists were: Venkata Malladi, Free State High School, fourth in K-12, and, in K-6, Shrivatsa Malladi, Langston Hughes, fourth; Andrew Wettengel, Cordley, eighth; Sebi Brown, Cordley, 14th; and Emilynn Wettengel, Cordley, 15th.

The annual Flory reunion was held Sept. 19 at the Lone Star Church of the Brethren.

The Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers presented three recitals on Thursday at the Lawrence Art Center.

Jessica Brumm, a graduate of Baldwin High School and Kansas University, was named to the 2010 spring semester dean’s list at Texas Wesleyan School of Law in Fort Worth. Brumm is the daughter of Clarence and Gretchen Brumm of Baldwin City.

Wichita State University announces area students who completed their master’s degrees in summer 2010.

Melissa Kramer of Lawrence and Samantha Livingston of Wellsville were awarded physician assistant degrees; and Larissa Seay of Lawrence was awarded an education counseling degree.

Natasha and Tyler Jenkins, Ottawa, announce the birth of their daughter, Morgan Kaye Jenkins, on Sept. 20, 2010, in Overland Park.

Her maternal grandparents are Leslie Thompson, Lawrence, and Fred and Rose Schmidt, Mayetta.

Her great-grandparents are Jerry and Ronalee Thompson, Ottawa, and Fred Sr. and Mary Ann Schmidt, Topeka; her great-great-grandparents are Virginia Fretz, Kettle Falls, Wash., and Ruby Huss, Princeton.

Adam and Tiana Kennedy, Wichita, announce the birth of their daughter, Olivia Jane Kennedy, on Aug. 18, 2010, in Wichita. Olivia has a sister, Sarah Lynn, 2.

Her paternal grandparents are Kris and Jamie Hutchison Kennedy, Wichita. Her maternal grandparents are Glenn and Lynn Meyer, Wisconsin. Her great-grandparents are Jackie Kennedy and the late Max Kennedy and Janis Hutchison and the late Jerry Hutchison, all of Lawrence.

Brandie and Jonathan Reynolds, El Dorado, Ark., announce the birth of their son, Wallace Wade Reynolds, on Aug. 16, 2010, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas, El Dorado.

Chelsea and Andy Goodman, Cabot, Ark., announce the birth of their daughter, Molly Claire Goodman, on Sept. 2, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.
