Aviation fans will have a chance to tour the Lawrence Municipal Airport at an open house on Oct. 9.

The city will host the event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the airport, which is on U.S. Highway 24-40 in North Lawrence. The open house will feature a vintage aircraft display, a radio controlled airplane demonstration, and a balsa airplane flying contest for children 18 and under.

A pancake breakfast and a barbecue lunch will be available for a fee. Airplane rides also are being offered for $40 as part of a fundraiser for the Make a Wish Foundation.
