KTA to redirect traffic onto new bridge

Kansas Turnpike Authority crews will begin moving eastbound traffic onto the new Kansas River Bridge after morning traffic today.

The move will come in several small steps, so expect minor delays and lane changes. The project is expected to be complete by Tuesday evening.

Traffic entering from both Lawrence exits, Plazas 202 and 204, will be affected by the opening and drivers should expect ramp changes.

The turnpike construction will enter its third phase after the opening of the bridge, and it is expected be completed by late fall 2011.
