40 years ago: Parents relate painful two years of drug use in daughter’s life

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 27, 1970:

In the latest in a continuing series of articles on “The Lawrence Drug Problem,” an anonymous mother and father described the progression their daughter followed, from experimenting with marijuana in the eighth and ninth grades to being hospitalized in the 10th grade for an amphetamine overdose. The unnamed girl had survived the incident and was now living drug-free.

Traffic deaths across the nation reached 324 over the Thanksgiving weekend, much of them related to weather and road conditions.
