Not just KU
To the editor:
A big deal. Not even mentioned in YOUR paper. The KU Youth Chorus performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the KU basketball game Friday, Nov. 19. Wouldn’t a picture of that have been nice on the front page of Saturday’s paper? Josh Selby gets front page the next day and front page of sports section on Monday. Why don’t you just ignore the rest of the city and call this paper what it really is: the KU Sports Today Journal-World?
If your loyalties only lie with KU maybe your can jack up prices even more and just sell a sports paper. This is a community first with elementary schools, high schools and kids doing activities that deserve to be covered. KU students usually don’t subscribe to the paper and, more important than that, do not pay property taxes. Very few have homes in Lawrence that do pay taxes. Also, most car tags from students do not pay to get insured here or even tagged here locally. The community has called this paper, YOUR paper, on this many times. When are you going to figure out you just might get a lot more subscriptions out there if you covered something other than KU.
