IRS: Hundreds of Kansans still have tax refunds coming

? The Internal Revenue Service says 690 Kansans are still due a tax refund.

Michael Devine, spokesman for the IRS in Kansas and Missouri, says the Kansans missing refunds are among 112,000 Americans nationwide who have not received their refunds. The national total of unpaid refunds is $164.6 million.

Devine tells The Topeka Capital-Journal that 681 of the refunds checks were returned in Kansas because of mailing address errors, for total of $169,000. He says such life changing events as marriage or divorce can cause address changes.

Kansans who want to find out if they have a refund coming should visit the IRS.gov web site and click on Where’s My Refund? Taxpayers will need information from their 2010 tax return to check the status of their refund.

Taxpayers also may call the IRS Refund Hotline at (800) 829-1954.
