Driver charged with second-degree murder after killing Leavenworth woman in hit-and-run

? A driver in Leavenworth has struck and killed a 58-year-old woman and injured her husband.

Teresa McMillen died Saturday after she and her husband were both struck by a car while they walked home from a club. Police said McMillen’s husband was in critical condition Sunday.

After striking the couple, the driver crashed his vehicle into a pole and ran from the scene. Police traced the vehicle to a man, who matched witnesses’ descriptions of the driver. Police said the driver was also injured.

Police did not identify the suspect, but said he was charged with second-degree murder. He was being held in the the Leavenworth County jail without a bond.
