A Lawrence man was transported to the hospital Sunday morning after a vehicle accident near the Lecompton exit on the Kansas Turnpike at milepost 192.2.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, Guzman Lopez was traveling East when he fell asleep, went off the road into a deep ravine and hit some rocks. The 22-year-old driver was wearing his seatbelt.

Lopez was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
