Record-setting motorcylist Leslie Porterfield uses Wichita State University wind tunnel to increase speed

Wichita State University is helping a record-setting motorcyclist increase her speed.

The university says Leslie Porterfield has conducted testing in a wind tunnel at the school’s National Institute for Aviation Research.

Porterfield used the facilities to enhance the aerodynamic performance of her bike. It’s a Land Speed Racing turbocharged motorcycle, built with the help of Airtech Bodywork.

Porterfield says the tunnel was an excellent place to test new pieces and make improvements.

Porterfield and her team were able to achieve about 20 percent less drag than with her previous motorcycle.
