— It's a new era for Kansas City's Major League Soccer team. And that means a new name, new stadium and new logo.

The Kansas City Wizards announced Wednesday that the team's name will be changed to Sporting Kansas City.

Team CEO and managing partner Robb Heineman says the name change has been considered since OnGoal bought the team from the late Lamar Hunt in 2005.

The name change coincides with the team's move next season to a new $180 million stadium Wyandotte County, Kan.

Heineman says the team will also have new colors — indigo and a shade of light blue — new uniforms and a new logo.

Although I love the new design and name, what a rip for all the fans that have KC Wizards gear! Its not like they improved the logo, they changed the name entirely. Sporting KC would do right by its supporters if they offered some kind of exchange program for old KC Wizards apparel.

Back in the 19th Century, Sporting KC would have meant something else entirely.

That's the best they could come up with? Sporting Kansas City? So original, creative and dynamic!!

That's so terrible, I think it gave me cancer...

So it goes from the Wiz (lmao, whoever thought this one was a good idea...), to the Wizards (lame), to Sporting Kansas City (lame again)?
