This is tongue in no offense to my Marine cousins, but:

235 years and STILL looking for a few good men!

I want to thank all the Marines for their service to our country. I realize that you are fulfilling your duty under directives from the Commander and Chief. I will Honor all those who did not return home as well as all the Veteran Marines on their day. Thank you all.

The Navy hosting our birthday is really a salute to us.
They get us there and we do our job.

Happy Birthday Marine Corps! Even though I left you a few years ago for the allure of civilian life I've never forgotten you, and in some weird ways still love you.

Why is the Dole Center having a Navy Captain as the guest speaker? Couldn't find any older Marines, or is it just the Navy trying to cut in on our traditions again? I remember on the Marine Corps birthday in 2002 vividly. We were doing an amphibious exercise to prepare for deployment and the Navy guys on the ship were nice enough to make a big cake for our birthday. The cake was on display that morning on the mess deck when we went ashore, and by the time we got back to the ship that night those squids had eaten the whole thing. Looking at their dumpy appearances you never would've known, but I guess they must have really needed that cake.

Happy birthday Marines, Semper Fidelis!
